Municipal Museum
The museum dedicated to Ignazio Piussi, inaugurated in 2013 and focused on mountaineering in the Julian Alps, offers a fascinating journey through the life and exploits of the daring mountaineer. Divided into four sections, the exhibition itinerary explores Piussi’s epic achievements, from the legendary ascent of the Solleder to the daring on the walls of the Eiger and Lhotse, as well as extreme adventures in Antarctica. The exhibition spaces are enriched by particular care in the museum layout: communication supports shaped to recall mountain peaks, made of backlit cardboard, create an evocative atmosphere that enhances the original materials on display, such as equipment, clothing and vintage maps. The minimalist and spartan design, reflecting the mountain lifestyle, is also manifested in the self-supporting panels that define the environments without excess, leaving the cardboard in its natural color to accentuate the evocative atmosphere of alpine exploration. This exhibition not only educates but also inspires, paying homage to the determination and passion of Ignazio Piussi and his fellow adventurers.
